I Am Going To Run This Race…

I am a firm believer that God speaks to us, a lot. Yet, we must be still and ready to hear him. With that said, I have been discouraged lately. I lost my job, school is crazy, and the list goes on and on. So, God and I are working on my faith. I am learning to trust God completely, to remove my fingers from the cookie jar, so to speak.

I have been working on a big presentation  for the last few hours, and as I work, I’m listening to my Pandora Gospel playlist. My hope was that I would hear encouraging messages that would help me conquer the task at hand. Well, this song comes on by Smokie Norful titled “Run Til I Finish.” Instantly, I’m flabbergasted with the song. And, I had to share the lyrics in this blog entry, because it confirms everything I needed to reassure myself of.

This blog entry is personal, but I pray that you are able to relate to this song, as well. We all get off track, we fall short and make mistakes, only in order to grow. Personally, I am fond of sprinting. God (sometimes he uses those dear to me) is showing me that I need to slow down.  Who says that I have to sprint the entire time? (Maybe, that’s why I have asthma, because I’m not supposed to run at such a fast pace.) It’s not like I will get to the finish line sooner by running at such a fast pace. God knows when I’m ready, and he ultimately determines my progress. So, I’m going to continue running my race, at a diligent, yet steady pace. Basically, I’m going to take a break to smell the flowers occasionally. The important part is that, as Smokie states, “I’m going to take my proper place in the winning circle.”

I encourage you all to evaluate at what pace you’re running your race? Are you enjoying the scenery along the way?

***I would like to dedicate this blog entry to my grandmother. As my biggest cheerleader, I know she’s at my finish line waiting for me. I pray that this blog serves as reassurance to her that my head is still on straight, and I’m running my race with God as my compass and my heart as my driving force. ***

“Run Til I Finish”

I have decided
Determined I’m committed
That I’ll run
No matter the cost

And I have decided
Determined I’m committed
That I’ll run
Even though at times I may get lost

I’m going to finish my race
I’m going to take my proper place
In the winning circle

I’m going to run anyway
I dont know where or when or how
But I know that I’m going to make it

Oh I’ll run
This race
Nestled safetly in amazing grace
I’ve made up my mind
And I dont have much time
But I’ll run, Til I Finish

I’m going to run this race
I’m going to take my proper place
In the winning circle

And I’m going to run anyway
I dont know where, I dont know when or how
But I know
I’m going to make it

Oh I’ll run this race
Nestled safetly in amazing grace
I made up my mind
I dont have much time
So I’ll run, Til I Finish

Oh
I made up my mind
I dont have much time
But i’m gonna run,
I’m gonna run, I’m gonna run til I finish
Yeah I made up my mind
I dont have much time
But I’ll run
Til I finish
